REBRAND ALERT!!!

The ‘Meghan Claire Photography’ Brand…

…had a Refresh!

Why did we have a brand refresh?

As Meghan Claire Photography gets older and works with more clients, the brand grows and outgrows previous branding designs. It was time for a refresh as I (Meghan Claire) felt the previous logos were not serving my purpose any longer. This wasn’t just a spur of the moment decision either, this was a few months processing of what the visuals could look like, what illustrations to use and why, colours. However, while all this was going on in my brain, figuring out all the puzzle pieces, I was still working away, listening to client feedback and the reasons why they chose me to be their photographer, the things they loved most about their experience of working with me. All of this impacted the form of which this new logo took. Let me reveal the new logo, if you haven’t seen it yet!

If you are looking to refresh and revamp your logos, I would recommend finding a graphic designer whose designs you like, and invest in them. It may be a bit of an investment but let me tell you, it will save you so much time learning about branding, creating logos, the correct format you need them to be, etc.

This photo above was the photo which sparked it all! After a client told me the reason they chose me to be their photographer instead of someone else, because my joy and authenticity shone through this image. It was through this portrait of myself, which allowed my client to visualise herself working with me, she could envisage us getting on and having the best time on a shoot. This feedback really warmed my heart, as that was my hope for people to feel when they saw this photo, especially when they came across my website looking to hire a photographer!

This photo inspired the colours I wanted to use for my new logo, embracing the nature - as I mostly shoot in natural light, capturing my clients’ authentic and natural selves. I wanted to create something clean, but welcoming and joyful - a bit like myself. After creating many options and deliberating with a couple graphic designers about which they would recommend using, the logos above were then chosen! I couldn’t be happier!

I am now super excited to share my work and share my visual identity with confidence and joy, and true authenticity now that I have a logo that really represents my brand where it is right now!

Logos and photos go hand in hand when creating or recreating your visual identity. They tell your story before people have even had a chance to delve deeper. They tell people who you are, what you are about, the quality of service you promise to provide, and even the service or product you do provide your clientele. What is stopping you from investing in your brand identity?

During this process of rebranding, I came to realise most of you don’t know the reason behind Meghan Claire Photography… Lots of people have thought that “Claire” was my surname (that might have been you, don’t worry you are not alone). Unfortunately, this is not the case, my surname is much more stern and straight to the point…There were two main reasons for originally choosing Meghan Claire Photography to be the name of my business. First of all, it is my name. They are my first and middle names. I chose not to use my surname, as I hope to get married one day and therefore less hassle when I change my name, much easier to not use the last name… Secondly, when I first started my photography business, I mainly focused on family portraits and childhood photography. However, I felt that my last name was too harsh and unwelcoming to be used for family photography, so decided to choose my middle name instead as it was much softer and endearing to clients.

In hindsight, I am overjoyed by this decision, as I have come to realise that the meanings of these two names also reflect my approach to my photography. Meghan - means Pearl. Pearls are precious and are created under pressure and hard work, I feel that this relates to my personality and approach to each client. Each and every client is precious to me, I put in the hard work to make sure they are being served to the best of my ability, because they too are precious. Claire - means Clear. This is what I try to create with my imagery for my clients, a clear story of their personalities, of their brand story, their process. As well as my visual aesthetic, I believe to be clear and beautiful, or I at least aim for this.
